Health & Safety Advisor Newport Permanent Salary Benefits package We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Advisor to join our team on a large-scale data centre project. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, promoting a safe working environment, and driving a culture of safety excellence on this high-profile project. Key Responsibilities Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure the data centre construction and operations meet all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards. Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough risk assessments and method statement reviews, identifying hazards and recommending mitigations. Site Inspections: Carry out regular health and safety audits, inspections, and walkthroughs to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance. Training and Inductions: Deliver health and safety inductions for all personnel and provide ongoing training to maintain awareness and competence. Incident Management: Investigate any accidents, incidents, or near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and site teams to integrate health and safety best practices into all project phases. Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on health and safety performance metrics, including audits, incidents, and key improvement initiatives. Emergency Planning: Develop and test emergency procedures, ensuring all site personnel are aware of protocols. Policy Development: Contribute to the creation and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures tailored to the data centre environment. Qualifications and Experience NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent (essential). Membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM) (preferred). Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor on large-scale construction or industrial projects, with data centre experience being a strong advantage. In-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
