Job Summary/Purpose and Role
To provide support to the multi-disciplined engineering team in the delivery of one of Aquila's major projects or workstreams. This role reports directly into the Engineering Lead and is responsible for ensuring and executing design analysis that is fit for purpose to support delivery to quality, schedule and budget.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Work alongside design engineers to ensure designs are fit for purpose and identify design solutions to solve problems identified by structural analysis performed.
2. Analysis of engineering designs, primarily by hand calculation, backed up with FE analysis if required, across multiple projects.
3. Authoring and/or checking of design analysis documentation.
4. Be the internal focal point for design analysis completed internally and by subcontractors.
5. Positively influence designs during conceptual/scheme stages to ensure structural integrity while considering improvements such as design for manufacture and cost reduction.
6. Able to approach analysis pragmatically and efficiently, working with engineers to ensure design for manufacture is realised.
7. Provide scheduling and tasking information to the Lead Engineers, Project Engineering Managers and Project Managers to support project delivery.
8. Provide mentoring and assistance to engineers undertaking design analysis tasks.
9. Support the creation of standard operating procedures to introduce and develop consistent analysis methods and rules across the engineering department, providing internal training as required.
10. Support business change, via effective change management processes in the context of Aquila Nuclear Engineering fast-paced regulatory environment.
11. Any other job duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the post.
12. Prepared to undertake regular travel in the UK and overseas when required.
13. Attend various business meetings as required.
14. Understanding of GDPR/data protection legislation procedures and requirements in a highly regulated environment. Comply with GDPR and with CAN data protection policy.
