A fantastic opportunity to work in a specialist further education college offering both day and 38-52 week residential placements. They provide holistic education for students aged 16-25 years who have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and associated mental health conditions. The college uses specialist education approaches, therapeutic support and environments and staffing expertise to prepare students to meet the demands of adult life in a positive way.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Follow plans and directions from the Tutor or Instructor.
* Provide pedagogical leadership to the LSA team and coaching where applicable.
* Support the delivery of the college curriculum up to and including Level 3 Qualifications.
* Lead learning on occasion, when appropriate and required.
* Establish productive working relationships with learners, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
* Support learners consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.
* Attend to learners’ personal needs and provide advice to assist in their social, health, and hygiene development during the college day.
* Work with the Tutor in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans as appropriate.
* Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals to support the achievement and progress of learners.
The successful candidate ideally must have a recognised Level 3 supporting teaching and learning qualification. It is essential that you have previously supported post 16 students with SEN, or have a background in special education at any key stage. You must be a team player to work as a team to manage challenging situations, while also being able to use initiative to work independently.
