As a Cover Supervisor, you will primarily be responsible for delivering and supporting Physical Education (PE) lessons to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will ensure that students stay engaged, participate actively, and benefit from high-quality lessons even in the absence of their regular teacher. Additionally, you will have the chance to cover other subjects as needed, gaining a broader perspective on the school environment and enhancing your experience in various areas of education. Key Responsibilities: Delivering and Supporting PE Lessons: Supervise and assist with the delivery of PE lessons, encouraging student participation and fostering a love for sport and physical activity. Covering Other Subjects: Occasionally, you may be asked to cover other lessons and assist students in staying engaged with their work across various subjects. Managing Student Behaviour: Utilize your skills to ensure effective behaviour management, creating a positive and respectful environment where students can thrive. Providing Assistance to Students: Support students in their learning, ensuring they remain on task and get the help they need during lessons. Supervising Activities: Ensure that all students are safe during practical PE sessions and that instructions are followed. Building Positive Relationships: Develop rapport with students, providing support and guidance as needed to enhance their academic and personal growth. Ideal Candidate: Experience: Experience in a school setting with students aged 11-16 years is highly desirable, particularly experience in delivering or supporting PE lessons. Passion for Sports: A genuine passion for physical education and sports is essential, as you will inspire and motivate students to engage in physical activity. Behaviour Management Skills: You should have experience or confidence in managing student behaviour and maintaining a focused and disciplined classroom. Relationship Building: You must be able to build strong, trusting relationships with students, helping them feel supported and motivated in their learning. Fun but Firm Presence: You should be able to balance authority with approachability, creating a classroom atmosphere that is both enjoyable and productive. Interest in Education: A strong desire to work in education and contribute to the development of young people is crucial.
