Lead Talent Solutions seeks a skilled Mechanical Engineer to oversee and maintain site machinery. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing and mechanical engineering, with knowledge of hydraulics and electrical engineering. Experience with pressing and tooling is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided in operating a 100-ton press. Candidates must have experience with preventative maintenance and ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS The Mechanical Engineer oversees and maintains site machinery. This includes ensuring that all machinery is in good working condition and making necessary repairs or adjustments as needed. The engineer is also responsible for developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment. It is a leading supplier of steel drums in the UK and exports its products to over 50 countries. About the Role We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of our factory's machinery, primarily focused on mechanical systems such as production lines, presses, and hydraulic equipment. You will also be involved in general maintenance tasks, including electrical components like sensors and switches. Key Responsibilities: Preventative Maintenance: Implement and maintain a proactive maintenance program to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance. Reactive Maintenance: Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns efficiently to minimize production disruptions. Machinery Oversight: Monitor the overall condition of factory machinery, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions. General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing light switches, sockets, and fuses. Collaboration: Work closely with the Operations Manager to coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure seamless production operations. Liaison: Communicate with the Engineering Director at another site to share best practices and troubleshoot complex issues. Ideal Candidate: Strong mechanical engineering skills, with a focus on hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the metalworking industry. Knowledge of electrical systems, including sensors and control panels. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
