We're seeking a dedicated Clerk of Works on a contract basis. This position focuses on overseeing highway improvement operations to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with all relevant construction standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assisting Engineers in delivering highway improvement schemes from initial site inspections through to the completion of construction works.
2. Monitoring contractors undertaking highway improvement operations and traffic management activities.
3. Carrying out site inspections, checking site measurements, and creating comprehensive site records.
4. Acting as the point of contact during construction, liaising with stakeholders including clients, contractors, and the public.
5. Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental processes.
6. Collaborating with the Client, Contractor, and local communities to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Job Requirements:
1. Demonstrable experience and extensive knowledge of highway improvement operations, including a solid understanding of construction methods, site monitoring, and contract documents.
2. IT proficiency, particularly with MS Office.
3. Strong organisational and communication skills.
4. Full driving licence.
5. Fluent written and spoken English.
6. Proactive, inclusive, and collaborative attitude.
7. Understanding of contract documentation such as Bills of Quantity (BoQ).
Desirable Criteria:
1. Experience liaising with clients and local stakeholders.
2. Working knowledge of the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004, and Chapter 8 signing.
3. Streetworks certification and appropriate CSCS and SWQR cards.
4. Knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contractual procedures.
