The Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit (ECTU) at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for a Senior Software Developer to work within the Data Management & Programming Team, which has overall responsibility for delivering data solutions to support the clinical trials portfolio within ECTU. The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to join the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit (ECTU), a leading registered trials unit based within the Usher Institute at Edinburgh Bioquarter. ECTU has a proven track record on delivering research and answering important questions about treatment and service delivery within the NHS. We work closely with patient groups and clinicians who are outstanding in their field and you will play a key role in designing, maintaining and managing project-specific database systems that support a wide range of clinical research projects, including clinical trials. We are keen to hear from developers who are looking to take responsibility for their own projects and want to have real input into the future best practices adopted by the Clinical Trials Unit. There will be opportunities to upskill going forward as we are expanding our mobile footprint and restructuring our development environment to take advantage of CI/CD methodologies. Excellent analytical and design skills - highly competent in ASP.NET/C#, as well as having experience/knowledge of some of the other infrastructure used within the team (J Query/other JavaScript libraries, SQL server, ORN tools (such as Entity Framework or NHibernate)). Experienced in eliciting business requirements from project stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence and to provide authoritative information. Ability to work well in a team and by yourself.
