Job Description
Our client, a renowned provider of veterinary care, is seeking a dedicated veterinary nurse to join their team on a nine-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic practice that prioritises exceptional care for its patients, clients, and staff.
The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive team, which includes 1.5 vets, a head nurse, a registered nurse, and two student nurses. The practice fosters a collaborative environment where team members bond over regular tea breaks and work together to deliver outstanding care. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to patient care, support surgeries, and manage nurse-led appointments. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the practice’s high standards and engaging in ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Consistently deliver exceptional care to clients and their pets.
2. Assist with surgeries and procedures, including pre- and post-operative activities.
3. Conduct nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 activities.
4. Monitor patients and deliver high-quality care.
5. Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to out-of-hours or enhanced care as needed.
6. Dispense and check medications, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
7. Maintain professional excellence by adhering to all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
8. Coordinate and brief the team to ensure the effective running of the practice.
Requirements:
1. Must be a registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS).
2. Proven experience in delivering high-quality patient and client care.
3. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
4. Experience in supporting nurse consultations and understanding their impact on practice performance and efficiency.
5. Strong coaching and influencing skills to bring out the best in colleagues.

About the Role:
This full-time role involves working 40 hours per week over five days, with a 1:8 full weekend rota at a nearby hospital. The contract starts on 9th December, and part-time applications are welcome. Flexibility is encouraged, so please let our client know what works best for you.
