The Opportunity…
As a highly technical electrical and telecommunications expert, you will be fundamental in leading the advancements in technology and associated communications in the complex world of metering.
This role will be responsible for defining the technology strategy, approach and operational plan for the EBS Core and Metering business.
A key deliverable will be developing existing technology associated with Industrial and Commercial (I&C) metering to remain compliant with regulatory requirements. Developing longer term technology solutions by understanding the ever-changing environment at which we operate in.

What you’ll be doing
* Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures for metering products, including creating and delivering technical Toolbox Talks.
* Design and deliver training materials to support field staff development.
* Act as a subject matter expert, advising senior management on technical strategy and solutions.
* Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for I&C metering products.
* Manage technical relationships with third-party vendors and partners.
* Lead technical assurance for new product development, working closely with internal teams.
* Support R&D projects, prioritising tasks and ensuring stakeholder expectations are met.
* Provide tailored technical solutions based on client requirements.
* Oversee site compliance, safety plans, and procedural reviews.
* Stay up to date with Codes of Practice, legislation, and industry regulations.
* Deliver technical support for telecommunications (IP Telephony, IPSec, TCP/UDP, etc.).
* Apply deep knowledge of metering software, tariffs, schemes, and protocols.
* Represent the business at national industry forums.
* Test new products and ensure regulatory compliance.
* Provide advanced technical support to internal teams and external agents.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone with the following skills/experience:
* Qualified Electrician C&G, NVQ 3
* EDF Competency ADEGHM (required to remain competent)
* SVA and CVA Code 1, 2, 3 and 5 metering including design, build install, commissioning and maintenance.
* Installation of BNO assets CT’s and Cop boxes
* EHV metering faults, including electrical and telecommunication systems. Assess implications and consequences of any faults about electrical safety and revenue loss
* Consult on electrical installation issues in line with BS 7671: IEE Wiring Regulations 18th addition (16th and beyond aspirations to upskill). This will include cable sizing, cable installation methods and Earthing methods (TN-S, TN-C-S and T-T). Interpret consultants' cable sizing calculations and determine suitability for connection.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal at all levels of stake holders
* Competent IT skills across digital platforms
* HNC, HND or equivalent experience or working towards higher education courses in electrical engineering.
