CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST IN GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY

The post holder will be Consultant Psychiatrist to the Greenwich Hub (formerly the Primary Care Plus Team (PCP) with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. This post replaces one of the outgoing Consultant Psychiatrists. You will work alongside another full-time consultant in the team with support from junior medical staff. The Hub is the single/first point of access to mental health services in Greenwich, and is responsible for quick triage, assessment and where appropriate signposting to other services. You will contribute towards triage, diagnosis and oversight of medication.
Main duties of the job
1. There will be formal outpatient clinics each week, patients who attend these will be referred via other services within the Trust. On average in the Medical Clinics there are 4-6 patients and in the Assessment Clinics there are 2 patients in each clinic.
2. You will have supervision duties for the Specialty Doctor working within the team.
3. Regular training and supervision of staff is essential to maintain safe and effective clinical practice within the locality team.
4. The post holder will carry no responsibility for inpatients but will be part of the bed management strategy within the Directorate.
5. There is protected time for administrative work, as well as protected time to deal with mental health act related work including attending tribunals for patients on community treatment orders.
6. The post holder will have supervision duties for the Associate Specialist, GPVTS Trainee and Trust Grade doctor working with the team.

All teams comprise a cohort of experienced practitioners from medical, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, and psychological therapy backgrounds. The PCP team works closely with GPS in the borough to provide interventions to patients with mental disorders.
