We have an excellent opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to take the lead on a high value, new build education project in Dalkeith. Reporting directly to the regional Commercial Manager the Managing Quantity Surveyor will ensure commercial success of a £40M + project., The Managing Quantity Surveyor will take commercial lead on a new build education campus in Dalkeith valued in excess of £40M. The Managing Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial success of the project overseeing the project commercial team through to completion. Beyond the delivery of the assigned project the Managing Quantity Surveyor may lead on 2^nd stage bids or other live projects, providing commercial expertise and input at all stages of project lifecycles. Your day to day may include:
* Advising on financial feasibility of projects at early stages
* Organising the division of projects into component work packages for procurement.
* Assessing returns from sub-contractors and awarding work packages.
* Negotiating with sub-contractor supply chain to achieve best value.
* Managing applications for payment from sub contractors
* Preparation of applications for payment to clients.
* Monitoring and measuring actual expenditure against budgeted project expenditure in the form of CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation Reports)
* Preparation of final accounts.
* Managing team workloads, allocating duties on the assigned project
* Checking and collating commercial information from team.
Track record of end to end commercial management of high value construction projects within the tier 1 environment
* Experience working on large 2 stage bids
* Strong Knowledge of NEC and JCT Contracts
* Strong knowledge of project commercial management principles, managing risk and maximising opportunity
* Experience in managing staff - allocating work and developing their knowledge and abilities
* Full UK Driving license
