Senior Infrastructure Engineers in the Data Centre are responsible for the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks.
They install, maintain, upgrade and continuously improve DWP’s operating environment. They also maintain the ongoing reliability, performance, and support of the infrastructure.
The role holder will be based on-site at Corsham Data Centre, Wiltshire, although candidates should note there will be periodic travel to the Farnborough Data Centre, Hampshire as a part of this role.

The role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Data Centre in our team is to assist in the management of Data Centre Operations to the Department by providing on site management and coordination of activities within the Data Centres.
This will entail working closely with 3rd party providers and different engineering and project teams within DWP to provide a high-quality service whilst ensuring the adherence to security and compliance requirements.
You will work with infrastructure specialists and engineers making sure services are delivered and used as required.
You will act as 2nd/3rd line support for Data Centre incidents, problems and changes to solutions and services, and will provide specialist technical support and assistance to projects ensuring delivery of requisite non-functional requirements and continual service improvement.
You will be responsible for preparations and support of Data Centre IT Operations solutions and services, aligned to industry and organisational best practices and standards, service requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The role includes:
* Monitoring the operating environments.
* Responding to incidents and problems.
* Planning for growth – by providing infrastructure solutions based on application needs and anticipated growth.
* Overall operation and maintenance of DWP digital infrastructure.
* Deployment of new technologies as well as design, install, configure, and maintain hardware, networks, and related utilities and hardware.
* Troubleshooting problems as reported by users.
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Data Centre, you will deal with the day-to-day management and development of infrastructure products and contribute towards their design.
You will be responsible for the operational stability of the infrastructure solutions and be able to make the necessary changes to ensure current and future demands are met.
Finally, you will be assisting in the delivery of a first-class service, and consistent levels of capability as required by the organisation.
