We are appointing a Street Safety Warden for September 2025 for term time only!
ROLE SUMMARY:
Wetherby Senior School was founded in 2015 to offer a progressive education in the heart of London. There are 452 boys on roll and our students achieve grades that allow them to gain places at top universities. At Wetherby Senior School, we seek to employ professionals with the ability and commitment to enhance the life of the School and to work effectively with all members of the School community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist students at designated crossing points, ensuring they follow good road safety rules at all times.
* Assist the operations team in ensuring road safety throughout planned and unplanned fire evacuations or at other times of emergency.
* Maintain a patrolling presence on the route between the school’s two buildings throughout the day to promote the safety and welfare of students.
* Be a visible and approachable presence for students.
* Remain vigilant and proactive in spotting and reporting potential hazards or concerns.
* Work with the school operations team and other staff to maintain and enhance a culture of street safety.
* Communicate with local business improvement district street safety officers and other agencies as necessary.
* Monitor traffic flow, stop traffic when necessary, and ensure safe crossings as required.
* Log details and report any incidents (e.g., near misses) to the operations team and, if necessary, to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
* Participate in road safety awareness campaigns within the school community.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
* Punctual and reliable, enjoys working with young people, and is passionate about ensuring their safety and welfare.
* Confidence and vigilance required to direct students where necessary.
* Patience and awareness of responsibilities as a representative of the school in dealing with members of the public.
* Enjoys working outdoors and can move across the route between the school buildings.
* Basic understanding of road safety rules, pedestrian rights, and traffic signs.
Skills and attributes (Preferred):
* Experience in a similar role or one with a comparable health and safety focus, and holds a first aid qualification.
* Appropriate training will be provided as necessary.
