Background
The Student Support Hub is an exciting new development at City St George's, creating newly designed student amenity spaces and a centralised ‘helpdesk’ area where students can access services and support including the Students’ Union.
The Student Support Hub is a clear, physical demonstration of how City St George's is putting students at the centre of everything the university does by creating a newly designed, modern space at the heart of the Northampton Square campus. This centralised location provides students with ease of access to professional support services and creates additional space for students to come together on campus, supporting a positive campus experience and sense of belonging and community.
Responsibilities
This role is part of the Student Experience Directorate, within the Student Support Services department.
The Student Support Hub Coordinator is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of a professional, pro-active Student Support Hub service across term-time (9am-6.30pm) and non-term-time (9am-5pm) opening hours. The role-holder will manage a team of Student Support Hub Advisers who are responsible for providing appropriate advice and guidance to students on a daily basis (Monday-Friday). This is a campus-based role.
You will need to be proactive and deliver a dynamic in-person Student Support Hub operations function. You will coordinate a service to students which is able to flex, to provide the best possible student experience at all times. You will be expected to work shifts on a weekly basis that provide cover to support the Student Support Hub team and meet student demands.
Person Specification
You will have a good understanding and experience of working in a student-focussed service delivery environment in Higher Education and be able to demonstrate experience of working with a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
You will also have experience in providing in-person, front-line supervision of the day-to-day operation of a student focused front desk function and be committed to providing an excellent service to university students. Alongside this, you will be experienced in coordinating work tasks, work schedules, and holiday cover/working rota arrangements to ensure operational effectiveness across opening hours.
You will have a keen commitment to leading a team, providing excellent customer service, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, and you will be a team player with a proactive and flexible approach to the role and the variety of student issues that you will be dealing with on a day-to-day basis.
We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with a positive and proactive outlook, who is able to work independently, confidently, and collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment.
