Gemba is creating unique training experiences, delivered in the metaverse, for massive global companies. We're looking for an enthusiastic and versatile Junior Interaction Designer to join our close-knit team in Newcastle. This role involves elements of instructional design, game design, and level design, with a focus on creating engaging and fun user experiences. You will help optimise our current application and design exercises that ensure strong user engagement. As this is a customer-facing role, confidence and excellent communication skills are essential. Key Responsibilities: • Implement small-scale improvements to optimise our current application. • Design instructional and game-based exercises that balance user experience, engagement, and teaching. • Work collaboratively with various departments to ensure seamless design integration. • Conduct research on relevant topics and apply findings to your designs. • Present ideas confidently and take feedback from both clients and internal teams. • Work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks efficiently. Key Requirements: • Good knowledge of Unity and Unreal Engine. • Familiarity with basic coding practices (to understand time scales and project demands). • Basic understanding of 3D and 2D art to maintain realistic project timeframes. • Strong research skills with the ability to integrate findings into your designs. • Confidence in presenting ideas and receiving feedback from clients and teams. • Able to work within a close-knit, young, fun, and hardworking team. Skills & Qualifications: • A degree or relevant qualification in game design, instructional design, or a related field. • Proven experience with Unity and Unreal Engine. • Basic coding skills (C# and blueprint or similar). • Understanding of 3D and 2D art workflows. • Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating fun, engaging user experiences. • Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
