We have an excellent permanent job opportunity for a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to work for a private hospital based in Bury. You will be working on an 18-bed male acute ward.
The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for men who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission. In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment – fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team. You’ll also have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director level through our management schemes.

Responsibilities:
1. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
2. Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
3. Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
4. Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
5. Participate in ward rounds & clinical audits
6. Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance
7. Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers’ hearings & attend hearings
8. Participate in the 1 in 7 telephone on-call rota

Requirements:
1. Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
2. Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
3. Experienced & knowledgeable in adult psychiatry & mental health diagnosis
4. Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
5. A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
6. Committed to continued professional development
7. Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
8. A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
9. Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
