Haemato-Oncology MDT Coordinator

Job overview
• To coordinate the weekly South Yorkshire Region Haemato-Oncology Network Multidisciplinary Team meeting (MDM), ensuring systems are in place that maximise the effectiveness of the MDMs.
• To develop systems that ensure all new patients with a haematological malignancy in South Yorkshire Region are discussed at an appropriate MDM.
Cancer Targets Role:
• To assist Haematology to comply with the Cancer Plan standards.
• To develop processes and procedures to monitor individual patients’ progress through their pathway in order to ensure that the 31/62 day targets are met.
• To ensure accurate reporting of information to the Department of Health relating to key performance targets around access within 62 days for treatment of cancer.
Main duties of the job
• To be responsible for South Yorkshire Region Network weekly MDT meetings.
• To improve communications across the referral/treatment pathway to promote a smooth passage for patients.
• To attend MDT meetings ensuring that any patient not discussed is brought forward to the following meeting and any follow-up action is carried out within agreed timescales.
• To ensure the outcomes from the MDT Meeting are documented in letters and distributed.
• Co-ordinating the videoconferencing element of the MDT meeting.
• To be responsible for the undertaking of data collection, analysis and reporting and to participate in audits as required.
• To develop pathways and procedures to monitor individual patients' progress through the pathway.
• To maintain the cancer data collection on Infoflex and be responsible for reports demonstrating compliance with key performance targets.
• To locate all missing data from MDT team minutes.
• To analyse, interpret data as required.
• The post holder may be required to perform similar duties across the care group and support non-Haematology pathways/patients.

Person specification
Education & Qualifications
* English language and mathematics at O’level / GCSE (C/4 grade or above or equivalent, eg. NVQ level 2).
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* ECDL.
Experience
* Previous experience working for the NHS in a multi-disciplinary patient-centred environment.
* Resilience in meeting objectives and deadlines and maintaining a fast pace of work.
* Working with Clinicians.
* Knowledge of specialist medical terminology relating to diagnoses and cancer treatments.
* Evidence of working towards cancer waiting times targets.
* Knowledge of relevant Trust’s policies and ability to ensure compliance.
* Experience of working in a Haematology/oncology setting.
* Working knowledge of current and national programmes of work or willingness to learn.
Skills & Knowledge
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office, Professional package (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
* Knowledge of Lorenzo (Patient Administration System).
* Sound knowledge of medical terminology, particularly relating to cancers and cancer treatments.
* A clear understanding and good working knowledge of NHS cancer waiting time targets.
* Knowledge of confidentiality, information governance and data security.
* Working knowledge of InfoFlex.
* Advanced IT skills.
* Awareness of cancer tracking and pathway coordination.
* Experience of data management.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
