Job Purpose
This is a new role, created to recognise the importance RM gives to growing our already successful business. Reporting to the Assessment Sales Lead, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing our client base.
The role will be new business focused, and you will be directly responsible for pipeline growth and selling into new client organisations. Target organisations will include small and medium-sized qualifications providers looking to harness the benefits of e-assessment technology.
You will have support from colleagues across the business to create compelling propositions tailored to meet the unique needs of customers in this segment. On a day to day basis, you will be working closely with Pre-Sales, Product Development and Customer Relationship Management colleagues.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Sales planning: Contribute to the definition of the qualifications segment strategy.
2. Personal Commitment: Taking direct responsibility for the development of a credible pipeline of opportunities in the targeted segments.
3. Financial: Delivery of revenue and profit targets for the short, medium, and long term.
4. Strategic: Contribute to RM's segment marketing strategy.
5. Governance: Present compelling cases to progress identified opportunities through to proposal or bid stage.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
1. Experience of successfully developing and implementing a segment focused sales strategy with an estimated contract value of £1.5m per annum.
2. Successful track record of hunting for new business and building significant sales pipeline.
3. Experience of meeting and exceeding sales targets on an annual basis.
4. Strong ability to develop and manage business relationships at all levels.
5. Experience of bidding for private sector contracts.
6. Strong communication skills applicable through multiple channels.
7. Experience of working in the technology sector, ideally within EdTech.
8. A network within the education space, ideally within the qualifications sector.
