Are you a nurse with an interest in pelvic floor and continence management and looking for a new challenge? If you are, an exciting opportunity has become available within the Pelvic Floor Service for a Band 6 Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist, based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, UHB. This is a full-time permanent position. The post holder will work within an established CNS team to provide clinical services to patients with functional bowel problems, supporting consultant and nurse led clinics. Experience in colorectal, gastroenterology and/or continence nursing would be beneficial, as would experience in multidisciplinary and cross agency working. This is a diverse role with plentiful opportunities for professional development, working within a supportive and friendly team.
Main duties of the job
This role involves working closely with an established CNS team and surgical colleagues to provide advice and treatment for a variety of pelvic floor conditions. Treatments include Tibial nerve stimulation, Biofeedback, Rectal irrigation and medical and therapeutic interventions for constipation and faecal incontinence. Full training and support will be given to enable you to provide this treatment. As a member of the Pelvic Floor MDT you will be involved in formulating plans of care for patients and delivering that care. The ability to work autonomously is also necessary, as the role involves the assessment and treatment of patients independently in nurse led clinics. Excellent communications skills are essential to ensure that the necessary care and support is offered to patients who are experiencing issues that they may find difficult to discuss. Teaching is a core responsibility and a commitment to the education of colleagues and patients will be required. The Pelvic Floor Service is committed to providing consistently high standards of nursing care with particular emphasis on quality and clinical standards.
