Anduril’s UK Engineering group is seeking a ME Payload Design and Integration Engineer to join our growing team. As a ME Payload Design and Integration Engineer, you will conduct mechanical design, analysis and integration of Anduril maritime payloads as well as avionic systems for airborne platforms. The right person for this role has a strong understanding of mechanical design, stress analysis, and thermal analysis principles, as well as a solid handle on the usage of tools common in industry.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
* Develop and integrate hardware on unmanned vehicles (air and sub-surface)
* Own designs from concept generation to real world use
* Use first principles in physics and engineering as a basis for every decision
* Lead design reviews, run analyses, define and execute hardware test plans
* Coordinate and interface with suppliers, customers, contractors, and engineering groups assigned to projects
* Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production
* Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed
* Develop and present technical material for reviews and meetings
* Travel to test sites nationally and internationally as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a regulated sector (air, marine, automotive — manned or unmanned)
* Experience integrating electrical and mechanical subsystems into unmanned vehicles
* Experience designing mechanical parts and test equipment (CAD)
* Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, composite lamination, etc)
* High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principles
* Competency in engineering analysis, including structural, thermal and electrical
* Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering
* Ability to obtain and hold a UK Security Clearance to Secret Level
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience in NX/Teamcenter
* Experience in Solidworks
* Experience in performing Stress Analysis through Finite Element Analysis using industry standard tools (e.g. Ansys)
* Experience in material selection for demanding environments (e.g. maritime)
* Experience developing subsystem layouts, performing architectural trade studies, and evaluating vendor performance data
