Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the A&E department at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for assessing and providing interventions to patients presenting with a variety of acute injuries and conditions, ensuring that they receive the highest standard of care. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centered interventions that improve patient outcomes and contribute to safe and effective discharge planning. Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients in the A&E department, identifying functional limitations and rehabilitation needs. Develop and implement individualized care plans focused on recovery and functional independence. Provide appropriate interventions such as splinting, rehabilitation, and adaptive equipment to promote recovery. Collaborate with the medical, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure integrated care pathways and timely discharge planning. Provide education and advice to patients and their families regarding rehabilitation, home adaptations, and managing ongoing conditions post-discharge. Supervise and mentor junior staff, contributing to their professional development. Engage in service improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental audits and quality improvement projects. Requirements: HCPC registered Occupational Therapist. Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy. Significant experience as an Occupational Therapist, ideally with experience in acute settings such as A&E. Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. Ability to manage a busy and diverse caseload within a high-pressure environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
