What it's like to work here
Reporting to one of our welcome managers, you’ll be joining a well-established welcome team at Wray working to create a fantastic experience for our visitors. With the Castle now undergoing a series of renovations, this role will be based outside with all duties being undertaken outdoors. Your primary base will be Wray, but on occasion you may work at one of our satellite car parks or help out at another property in the South Lakes such as Hill Top or Tarn Hows.
With your help, we will be developing experiences for our visitors outdoors while the castle is closed for renovation work. This past year we have been developing a project to improve the Castle and create a Beatrix Potter exhibition venue with the long-term hope of displaying her original watercolors. This is an exciting period of change at Wray, and we want to find people to join our team who will share the same enthusiasm and passion we have for this project. The impact this project has on our day-to-day may change throughout your time here, so a willingness to be flexible and adapt to what the site needs will also be important.
What you'll be doing
Day to day, you’ll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll be on hand answering queries and listening to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can. You’ll have the chance to be involved in different aspects of the visitor experience - no two days are the same. You may get involved with taking visitors on tours of the site, lead guided walks, facilitate programming and events, and more.
Alongside this, our core purpose is to promote and champion the National Trust and grow support for its cause. Providing a great visitor experience is essential for this, but part of your role will also be working towards targets in aspects such as fundraising and membership. When a visitor leaves a donation or becomes a member, their contribution allows us to continue our vital work.
Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service.
