Pharmacist Team Leader for Workforce and Governance

The job overview: Responsible for delivering, managing and developing the workforce and education and training component of the Pharmacy Service. Responsible for managing and developing the Medicines Safety and Governance Team. Provides expert advice and leadership on all aspects of training and education of the Pharmacy Team. Provides expert advice, guidance and support on aspects of Medicines and Pharmacy Governance in conjunction with the Medicines Safety Officer.
Main duties of the job
This is a senior and highly visible role within Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital Trust. The postholder will work with significant autonomy and be expected to liaise with clinicians and other senior managers.
1. Leading on the implementation of national workforce strategies
2. Lead on strategic direction in education commissioning for pharmacy
3. Lead on the recruitment and training of foundation trainee pharmacists in line with the national recruitment scheme and GPhC standards
4. Lead on the education and training of undergraduate pharmacists and other Pharmacy related roles
5. To lead on Pharmacy Governance and risk to ensure that the department complies with legislation and national standards
6. To line manage and support the Trust Medication Safety Officer in delivering the Trust Medication Safety Strategy
7. To lead on reporting and analysis of key performance indicators for Pharmacy Governance and Medicines Safety
8. To work with the Pharmacy Senior Management Team and clinical governance leads to identify and minimise the risk of harm from prescribing and administration of medicines
9. To be a part of the Trust Drug and Therapeutic Committee

Person Specification
Qualifications/Training
* Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Professional knowledge acquired through vocational master's degree in pharmacy (4 years) (or equivalent) plus 1 year pre-registration training
* Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent from a recognised UK provider (min 2 years)
* Independent prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake the qualification
Experience
* Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of workforce planning, education and training, governance and medicines safety gained through extensive, post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy practice
* Demonstrable extensive experience of successful project management
* Experience of planning, delivering and reporting audit and research projects
* Wide experience of ward-based clinical pharmacy
* Commitment and evidence of formal continuous professional development
* Experience of service development and staff management
* Able to supervise and provide clinical leadership to Pharmacy staff, consultants and senior nurses

* Has the skills, knowledge and experience to provide expert advice and offer opinion and guidance to the Trust on development, implementation and maintenance of framework, policies and procedures for the regulation and assurance of safe handling of medicines at RJAH

* Has the skills, knowledge and experience to be able to strategically lead on the Pharmacy Governance and Medicines Safety for RJAH Trust
* Has the skills, knowledge and experience to be able to develop, plan and deliver a Pharmacy Workforce strategy to support the needs of the Trust in-line with the national Pharmacy workforce agenda
