The University of Roehampton is recruiting to the role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy to join our sport science and allied health team. This is an exciting time to join the team as we expand our provision, with new programmes including: Sports Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy, providing you an opportunity for you to play a significant role in this growth.
This role is ideal for someone who has extensive subject expertise and professional practice experience in sports therapy as a practitioner and has experience leading, designing and delivering higher education programmes in this field. The successful candidate will thrive in an environment where they work inter-professionally and can continue to practice and research, whilst providing an outstanding student academic experience to develop high quality graduates in the field. Leadership, passion, solution-focussed, and good communication skills are key qualities of interest.
The role holder is required to be a member of The Society of Sports Therapists and be in a position to provide expert professional practice experience in the field of sport therapy and rehabilitation. Candidates with wider experience in rehabilitation, biomechanics and functional movement and anatomy, strength and conditioning, are encouraged to apply. The role holder will also join an active research and knowledge exchange community and therefore have the opportunity to develop their research and professional practice contributing to the Centre for Integrated Research in Life and Health Sciences.
Key responsibilities will include
• To provide an effective and inclusive learning experience for sport and exercise students on a range of UG and post graduate sports related courses
• Deliver teaching that encompasses employer and skills-led experiential learning and professional development
• Provide academic leadership as appropriate with regard subject specialism and wider academic practice
• Engage in high-quality teaching and learning, research and/or knowledge transfer which demonstrably impacts on practice, generates external income, and contributes to the University’s Enabling Strategies
• Participate in and help develop external networks for the benefit of the University and appropriate areas of teaching, scholarship, research and knowledge transfer.
• Engage and lead as appropriate development of new pathways for student learning, e.g., apprenticeship degrees, accelerated degrees, credit accumulation and top-ups, multiple entry points, and blended and online at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Actively engage in the School and University's broader development efforts, fostering collaboration across departments and schools
The successful candidate will have skills and experience in
• extensive experience of teaching at university level and significant professional experience
• ability to increase and diversify our income through knowledge exchange activities such as CPD, and/or short course provision, service clinics and consultancy, or successful grant capture from external sources, industry investment, research and IP consultancy extensive experience of teaching at university level in an interdisciplinary manner with evidence of delivering high levels of student satisfaction and outcomes or extensive professional experience of working across multiple teams with evidence of delivering high levels of end user satisfaction and/or outcomes
• established industry/third sector/public sector and professional networks that will make a positive contribution to the student experience
• Creating engaging, innovative, and high-quality inclusive teaching and learning materials for Sports Therapy modules and courses, delivered both in-person and online.
• Providing support for our diverse student community by serving as an Academic Advisor, tracking their progress and achievements, and fostering learning development.
