We are seeking Radioprotection Engineers to support the development and delivery of nuclear-grade radioprotection and instrumentation systems for a long-term programme within the energy sector. You’ll be contributing to the assurance, procurement, and installation of complex safety-critical equipment used in radioactivity monitoring and protection. Working closely with supplier and client stakeholders, you’ll apply your expertise across the full equipment lifecycle—from design and documentation to delivery and on-site validation.
What will you be doing?
* Provide technical clarification and support to resolve supplier and client queries across the design, procurement, and delivery phases.
* Monitor the manufacture, testing, and Delivery to Site (DTS) of electrical and radiological equipment, ensuring compliance with contract specifications.
* Conduct detailed reviews of supplier documents, including surveillance reports, technical specifications, and change requests.
* Manage and track contractual risks, design changes, and exemption requests, ensuring project alignment through dedicated tools.
* Interface with multiple engineering disciplines to ensure adherence to nuclear standards and radiological protection requirements.
* Support technical assessments and participate in on-site validation activities and documentation processes.
What we’re looking for:
* Degree in nuclear physics, electrical engineering, or a relevant physics-based discipline.
* Proven experience with radioactivity detection systems and nuclear-grade instrumentation.
* Familiarity with standards such as RCC-E, NFC15-100, NF C 13-200, BS7671, or IEC 60909.
* Understanding of fire detection, instrumentation procurement, and engineering processes in regulated environments.
* Strong documentation and technical review skills using structured project tools.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience working on radiological protection systems, equipment handovers, and nuclear project delivery.
* Knowledge of contractual tools, interface management, and supplier technical documentation processes.
Experience, skills and qualifications required:
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nuclear Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related technical field.
* Professional training or certification in nuclear instrumentation, radioprotection, or electrical safety standards is advantageous.
* Exposure to UK nuclear industry practices and associated regulatory frameworks is beneficial.
* Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in nuclear engineering or instrumentation design is a plus.
