An exciting opportunity to lead the Learning & Development Team at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has become available.
The Learning and Development Team is responsible for delivering and designing programmes that are role-relevant and health sector endorsed. Providing the highest quality and most engaging and skilled tutors and trainers, we look to employ the most effective, appropriate, and innovative delivery.
The post holder will manage, motivate, and develop the Learning and Development team, providing the required governance, oversight, and challenge to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality apprenticeships, work-based learning, careers, and employability skills training which meet the needs of the organisation and are a positive and progressive learning experience for the apprentice, delegate, or Employability service user.
The post-holder will work with colleagues within People Services across the University Hospital Tees Group.
The post-holder will line manage and provide leadership and support to the Learning and Development team. The post-holder will be required to undertake leadership development training.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will ensure the apprenticeship levy is utilised and accounted for and will co-ordinate apprenticeships and all other learning requirements (e.g., Work-based Learning Portfolio and Prospect Employability programme).
The post-holder will ensure that the team is the core organisation for the delivery of Management Essentials training.
The post-holder will work closely within the talent management, culture, and engagement workstreams of the people services directorate, ensuring the work of the team is closely aligned to cultural development work.
Maintenance of excellent quality learning and assurance is key, and this post will ensure all assurance analysis and reporting is of the highest level and that service change is implemented to ensure continuation of high-quality learning and education.
The aim of the team is to support career and personal development for the healthcare support workforce. The team links closely with the Trust Learning Partners, People Services, and the Leadership and Improvement Team; joint working between the teams is essential to meet the business requirement of the organisation.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers.
This programme aims to:
1. Explore leadership within the NHS
2. Promote Trust Values and Behaviours
3. Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
4. Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead, and complete quality improvement within your role.
After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities; we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at levels 3, 5, 6, and 7.

Qualifications
* Educated to Degree level qualification
* Educated to MBA or equivalent operational experience managing learning and development
* Teaching/Learning qualification – i.e., Certificate in Education, 7307 or equivalent post-graduate qualification (or willing to achieve)
* ILM/CMI level 5 Management Qualification or equivalent experience
* Coaching and or leadership to ILM 5
Experience
* Experience in managing the delivery of learning and development programmes within a public sector organisation, preferably NHS, with demonstrable experience of co-ordinating the delivery of large-scale learning initiatives.
* Experience of coaching and motivating individuals on learning programmes
* Proven track record of post-qualification teaching delivery including designing and delivering learning and development initiatives, specifically management development programmes, the production of supporting learning materials, assessment, and evaluation models
Knowledge
* Budgetary management skills
