We are now seeking a passionate, driven Project Manager to join our dynamic team. Role Overview: As the Project Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of engineering projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This role involves planning and coordinating all project phases, from initial design through to production, working closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, procurement, and suppliers. The Project Manager is accountable for managing resources, controlling costs, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. You will also communicate regularly with stakeholders, provide updates on progress, and implement process improvements to optimise efficiency and product quality. Strong leadership, gravitas, manufacturing knowledge, and problem-solving skills are essential to drive projects to successful completion. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for execution of the full product development lifecycle for NPI (New Product Introductions), in conjunction with Product Line Technical Leads and according to TRUMPF’s strategic plan. Coordinate cross-functional project planning, project tracking, cost management. Provide program and project structure to enable effective communication of ownership, deliverables, and status. Program/project lead (key contact) with responsibility for providing timely and accurate project statues to the business. Reporting of NPI project progress to senior management against KPIs. Provide cost tracking and financial analysis of the project. Obtain the buy-in and co-ordinate with stakeholders from across the business and oversee implementation of the project deliverables. Lead planning activities to generate project schedules and associated work packages to enable successful implementation of projects. Identification and management of project risk. Creation and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation. Utilise digital systems for task management and tracking. About You: We are looking for a proactive, technically experienced Project Manager who can bring technical expertise, ideally from a high tech, R&D or Scientific industry who is committed to governance, working within a framework and looks at the ‘bigger picture’ to work within our Project Management Team. You will have natural problem-solving abilities enabling you to work seamlessly with our internal teams, suppliers, and senior stakeholders, ensuring smooth project execution. Please note this is a full time role and is based on site 5 days a week at our Southampton Production site Essential Requirements: Awareness of Project Management methodologies, and tools to deliver multiple tasks. Excellent IT skills, experience of using Microsoft Project and Jira strongly preferred. Successful candidates will have at least 3 years’ experience of project management roles in a high-tech development/manufacturing industry, ideally from a complex optical component manufacturing industry although this is not essential. Experience in delivery of large scale and complex NPI into lean manufacturing environments with cross-functional project teams. Desirable: A STEM degree would be preferable but not essential.
