Senior Broker Systems Engineer - Open GI

Role Purpose:
As a Senior Broker Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of development/configuration and delivery processes. Working within squads, you will play a key role in ensuring quality solutions and fostering a positive mindset.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Undertake development/configuration and delivery of systems focused on the Open GI Core Platform and associated products.
2. Use Open GI frame calculation functions to implement business and regulatory changes into the Open GI Core system.
3. Collaborate with Trading, Pricing, Wholesale, Operations, Commercial, and Business Optimisation to ensure optimal commercial performance of the platform.
4. Execute unit testing for all development/configuration and contribute to the planning of appropriate testing.
5. Ensure all production and development/test platforms are robust and secure, with clear auditing of change.
6. Support the Scrum team in the successful planning and delivery of sprints.
7. Coach/mentor Junior and Broker Systems Engineers to meet appropriate standards.
8. Create training plans to enhance knowledge and skills of Broker Systems professionals.
9. Provide 3rd line support for existing Policy Administration Systems.
10. Produce suitable design proposals for new development in line with the Product Design Authority process.
11. Keep all configuration documents up to date in line with the config change procedure.
12. Work with the Head of Broker Systems and other key stakeholders on the delivery of work as part of the overall strategy.
13. Deliver new configuration components and documents to agreed quality levels and timescales.
14. Provide reliable estimates of the effort required to develop new systems and functionality.
15. Follow best practices in development and unit testing to ensure minimal defects.
16. Provide input to the analysis process to avoid re-work and re-specification of systems mid-project.
Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:
1. Experience of the Open GI Core back-office systems.
2. Experience with Open GI enhanced calculation functions including Core toolkit and Scheme Toolkit.
3. Understanding of the software development life cycle and agile methodology (especially Scrum).
4. Good knowledge of HTML, Velocity, CSS, and Microsoft applications.
5. Strong knowledge of technical configuration of policy administration systems.
6. A passion for quality and a continuous improvement mindset.
7. Experience in developing and mentoring Broker System professionals.
8. Good awareness of Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
Desirable:
1. Demonstrates a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem-solving.
2. Good awareness of Cyber/Information/Data Security risks.
3. Experience with issue management tools such as Jira, Service Now, and Confluence.
4. Experience managing 3rd party suppliers.
