About the role :
The AFL Record is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our team in the role of Graphic Designer in our Melbourne Office. You will play a key role in assisting the design team in collaboration with the production, photo editing and editorial teams to create highly conceptual publications. These include the Pre-season edition, weekly home & away issues, all finals and the Premiers magazine. Your primary role will be design of the cover, feature articles and page layout of regular content.
About you :
In this role, you will be responsible for the overall look and feel of the AFL Record by developing creative concepts using a range of software applications. You will work closely with the editor on cover designs and feature articles, ensuring that each edition is visually appealing and engaging. Additionally, you will collaborate with the re-toucher on all imagery to maintain high-quality visuals throughout the publication.
Your responsibilities will also include developing and managing the design process from initial concept to final output. You will provide direction to external parties, such as photographers and external designers, as needed. Furthermore, you will liaise with the Sales Department to create mock-ups for AFL Record sales presentations, ensuring that all materials effectively support the sales team's efforts.
Our ideal candidate will have :
* 6+ years of print design experience (preferably in magazines and publishing)
* Expert knowledge in Adobe Indesign
* Expert knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
* Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
* Bachelor of Graphic Design or other related fields
* Ability to creatively solve complex design problems
* Ability to understand strategic requirements and articulate creative concepts
* Ensure all deliveries have strong conceptual thought with the fan at the centre of all solutions
* Eye for detail and quality control
* Knowledge of print processes and creating hi-res print ready PDF
* Work with internal stakeholders during the design process to ensure all design requirements are being addressed
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Knowledge of the AFL is an advantage
* You must be confident, proactive and flexible to the changing needs of a business.
