We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Building Control Team as an Assistant Building Control Surveyor This is an exciting time to join East Suffolk Building Control, together the team have supported each other in becoming one of the most qualified teams in the Region. The role: This is a training role providing the required experience and competencies to become a fully professionally qualified Registered Building Control Surveyor where you will be supported with your enrolment into accredited training in preparation for validation. You will check construction projects at both the plan and construction stages for compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation, and also provide support to our team of Surveyors, dealing with initial enquiries from the public and assisting with the examination of applications for compliance with Building Regulations. As you gain more experience you will be able to assist with advising applicants and agents, site inspections and making recommendations for the approval or rejection of building regulation applications. What you will need: Ideally you will already have 4 GCSE’s, including English, Science and Maths at grades 4 or above (or equivalent), and currently be studying for (or possess) the BTEC level 3 Diploma in Construction or similar. Alternatively, you may bring significant relevant experience either gained within construction or from within a Planning / Building Control role. If you have not yet completed a construction related qualification you will be supported to undertake assisted study to achieve this. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, who demonstrates a willingness to learn and has a good awareness of the Building Control profession. You should have good written and verbal communication skills and be well organised in your approach to work. Computer literacy and confidence is also essential, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office.
