HWRC Site Operative
Salary – £21,344.30 per annum (plus benefits)

As an HWRC Site Operative at FCC Environment, you will provide a helpful, courteous and professional service to the public by helping them to dispose of their waste, whilst trying to maximise recycling. The Centre is to be maintained and operated in accordance with the Environmental Permit, Planning Permission, all FCC Group policies, along with any schemes or initiatives brought in by FCC and Wiltshire County Council.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week, however, we will consider requests for job shares to suit your lifestyle (working full days).

What will you be doing?
* Work in compliance with Group Safe Working Procedures and ensure you work safely at all times.
* Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the machinery.
* Ensure that all actions maintain a safe and healthy environment for self, colleagues and customers.
* Help to maintain high level of housekeeping on site.
* Demonstrate a polite and courteous manner to the public at all times, providing exemplary customer service.
* Demonstrate good communication skills towards the Area Supervisor, Manager, Site Staff, Council, Environment Agency and the Public.
* Direct and advise the public, supervising the deposition of household waste to ensure correct disposal.
* Be aware of and conversant with relevant details of the Waste Management Licence, Working Plan, Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Emergency Procedures and other relevant health, safety & environmental documents.
* Record and report all accidents, near-misses or dangerous situations to the Area Supervisor or Manager.
* Control and direct the flow of traffic within the centre to ensure public safety.
* Assist individuals with loading their waste into appropriate containers, ensuring Health & Safety precautions are taken.
* Remove items from recycling containers to prevent contamination, ensuring safety is prioritized.
* Prevent recyclables from entering general waste containers and retrieve recyclables when safe to do so.
* Wear all company issued uniform and appropriate PPE at all times, including name badge.
* Record and report all accidents, near misses or dangerous situations in accordance with Group’s procedures.
* Unlock and lock the centre, ensuring site security during opening hours.
* Maintain centre facilities in a clean and tidy manner, free from litter, including regular cleaning of gullies and drainage.
* Ensure that the centre office and toilets are cleaned regularly and free from inappropriate materials.
* Maintain a daily log of events and activities at the centre, recording all visitors except those depositing waste.
* Ensure no unauthorized persons are allowed to sort or interfere with waste on the Centre.
* Carry out any reasonable and safe duties assigned by your Supervisor or Manager.
