Part-time Personal Assistant
SOMETHING ABOUT ME
I am a gentleman in my late fifties who lives in Llanharry. I am tetraplegic and live at home on my own. I use an electric wheelchair for getting around. I also have a visual impairment. I have good communication skills. I enjoy music, films and general knowledge quizzes and I am a keen amateur radio enthusiast.
PLACE OF WORK
Your job is based in my home in Llanharry.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To support and assist me in my day-to-day life, to enable me to live independently in my home.
HOURS OF WORK
10 hours per week minimum, includes weekday, evening and weekend work. Block shifts, no short in/out calls.
Additional hours are available to cover annual leave and sickness
Flexibility is important for this role.
RATE OF PAY
£11.44 per hour Weekdays
£12.00 per hour Weekends
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
· Assistance with transfers between bed and chair using a hoist
· Assistance with personal care which will involve washing, dressing and showering
· Domestic Duties - Laundry, washing, ironing etc.
· Assistance with the running of the home, paying bills and answering correspondence
· Assistance with preparing meals
· Assistance with eating and drinking
· Assistance with bedtime preparations
· Helping me with my radio
· Keeping me company
· Emptying my catheter bag
· Help with my asthma pump occasionally
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
· Experience useful though training will be given
· Friendly and good company
· Good sense of humour
· Flexible and reliable
· Positive approach to disabled people
· Able to work on own initiative
· Respectful of other people’s homes and property
· Holds a full driving licence
· Able to work with a team of PAs
· Manual Handling training an advantage
ABOUT THE JOB
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK before you start work. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid two weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
