The Services Team at JDR Cable Systems is responsible for project service support, supporting equipment, tooling, rental support, spares and field technical support.

Workscopes include mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and fibre optic re-termination of subsea cables and umbilical’s.
In addition to this, the group also carries out / supervises the installation and testing of umbilical’s both onshore and offshore worldwide.
We are seeking a positive, conscientious and committed candidate with a ‘can do’ attitude to support JDR products and services globally onshore and offshore as a Field Service Technician.
Reporting to the Field Service Technician Manager, your main duties as a Field Service Technician will include: Interpreting and understanding both JDR and customer supplied drawings to confirm written or verbal work instructions to the drawings and procedures as required.
Mechanical assembly of all termination parts with an understanding of limits and fits.
Employing the relevant thread lock, sealant, or anti galling compounds as necessary.
Terminating electrical connectors, cable joints, and electrical junction boxes.
Proof testing of electrical umbilicals and associated terminations.
Swaging of hydraulic and pneumatic hoses, integrating into stab plates, winches and proof testing and flushing as required.
Ensuring that all paperwork regarding each job is completed in a timely manner to ensure accurate client invoicing.
Ensuring that contact with Service Support Engineer is maintained whilst offsite, ensuring that project managers are also kept informed of progress on a regular basis.
To be a Field Service Technician with JDR Cables, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a fast moving and changing environment as driven by the business needs and customer expectations.
You will need to comply with JDR termination and quality procedures to ensure quality of product and service.
Cable and Umbilical equipment knowledge is essential with specific experience working with Reeler systems being a distinct advantage.
You should have previous fibre optic experience ideally gained offshore.
Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness is required as you will be the first point of contact for JDR customers.
Ideally, we are looking for candidates who hold offshore certificates (either GWO or BOSIET/FOET), however, full training can be provided.
It is imperative that you hold a valid passport, driving license and have the capability of achieving and retaining offshore certification, this includes offshore training and full medical certification.
