Oxford Global Resources UK is Hiring – Maintenance & Calibration Engineer (6-Month Project to Permanent Opportunity)
Oxford Global Resources UK is seeking a skilled Maintenance & Calibration Engineer to join our team on a 6-month project, with the transition into a permanent role at a top-leading company. This role focuses on the calibration of laboratory equipment such as thermometers, stirrers, and balances, while also providing support for broader engineering activities within a small, dynamic team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
* Apply a range of mechanical skills, including installation, condition-based monitoring, fault finding, and servicing.
* Execute planned maintenance activities on time with a focus on precision and efficiency.
* Support capital expenditure projects to enhance operational standards.
* Develop and implement One Point Lessons (OPLs) and Standard Operating Practices (SOPs) to optimize equipment use.
* Train operational teams in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) to promote collaboration and efficiency.
* Apply TPM/Lean tools to drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen, Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), 5S, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
* Participate in the company’s Practical Process Improvement (PPI) program.
* Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on breakdowns and ensure corrective/preventative actions are completed.
* Oversee and coordinate with external contractors and service engineers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
* Work within defined departmental and company objectives, aligning with key performance indicators.
* Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
* Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard.
* City & Guilds/BTEC ONC in Mechanical/Process Engineering. An HNC/HND or equivalent experience in Operations & Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering is desirable.
* Electrical proficiency is an advantage.
* Proven experience within an FMCG, Pharma, or Food industry in a process or packaging environment.
* IT literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Experience in continuous improvement projects.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented, with a strong drive for improvement.
* Flexible, team-oriented approach with a commitment to excellence.
* Ability to participate in an on-call rota, residing within a 1-hour commuting distance of the facility.
