Prison Procurement Operative HMP Fosse Way Salary - £23,000.00 - £30,000.00 depending on experience plus Serco benefits. Main Purpose: To provide and carry out procurement services within HMP Fosse Way in accordance with all relevant and current regulations, legislation and guidelines. To enable the stores operation within HMP Fosse Way to provide all services as directed by the Catering and Procurement Manager. Main Accountabilities To work with the Catering and Procurement Manager, Shop Manager and Business Services team in the delivery of stores services to the whole establishment and comply with all relevant Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations, legislation and company guidelines & operational procedures. To complete administrative tasks as dictated by the Business operation. Responsible for evaluating suppliers, products, and services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that approved purchases are cost-efficient and of high quality To work alongside Client and suppliers. To assist with ordering of all disposables and consumables for all prison requirements. To organise and accept deliveries in line with current company procedures. To collect, when necessary, delivery vehicles from the gate and return as per the LSS if necessary. To oversee the unloading of all deliveries and check against orders and delivery notes, reporting problems to the Manager. To oversee delivery of pre ordered items to designated wings and houseblocks. To ensure the security and safety of all items is maintained during delivery, storage and distribution within the Prison. To provide training and supervision to selected, group of prisoners, working in the store’s area. To record and document all relevant paperwork to comply with food hygiene regulations, Health & Safety, HACCP and Company Policies. Reacting to complaint issues and trends, with a cohesive approach along with the Business Services team. To work weekends when operationally required. To assist in prisoner movements and searches to and from the Stores. To train for and carry out any other work reasonably acceptable within the capabilities of the post holder. Essential Qualification Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent GCSE. Level 2- First Aid at Work Level 2 Qualification in Food Safety & HACCP required to be completed during initial probation period. Level 2 Qualification in First Aid at Work required to be completed during initial probation period. Procurement and Logistics background essential Desirable Qualifications: Level 2 – IOSH Level 2 – Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Level 2 – HSE What you need to do the role: A strong procurement background, preferably in Guided Buying and SAP An understanding of working in a socially diverse environment, along with a good team ethic. Basic working knowledge of a commercial warehouse environment. Good interpersonal skills, including good oral and written communication. Excellent time management Data entry skills Desirable Experience, Skills & Competencies: Good computer skills including knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook applications. Able to demonstrate resilience with a basic understanding of both conflict resolution and de-escalation and risk and conflict management.
