The Rig Electrician is responsible for ensuring that the operation and maintenance of the electrical installations and the electrical equipment is kept at a high level to avoid breakdowns during operations.
The Rig Electrician will work closely with Mechanical and Technical engineers to ensure that drilling equipment is kept up and running with minimal downtime, and maintenance schedules are upheld to the highest standards.
Qualifications/Experience:
• Minimum 3 years experience as an Electrician on Drilling Rigs, Marine or Heavy Industry.
• Accredited Approved Electrical Apprenticeship Preferred.
• NVQ Level 3 (or Equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum Level 3 Electrotechnical Studies (or Equivalent).
• 18th Edition beneficial, although not essential.
• Offshore Survival.
• Medical Certificate.
• Must pass pre-employment and random drug test.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety
• Ensure adherence to safety and maintenance policies and procedures.
• Participate in Risk Assessment or Job Safety Analyses as required.
• Carry out inspections and audits according to the Management System Requirements.
• Assist in rig Mobilization and Demobilization as required.
• Assist in development, revision and review of procedures and work instructions.
• Familiar with navigation of Integrated Management System (IMS).
Electrical
• Provide preventive, planned and unplanned maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, machines and systems.
• Ensure that all reporting routines are followed and that all equipment-related paperwork is carried out within the area of responsibility, such as maintenance records, updating of service and instruction manuals, and instructing procedures.
• Be familiar with reporting routines regarding the CMMS Procedures & maintenance system on board.
• Supervise the disassembly, loading, unloading and assembly of the power plant and electrical devices and equipment.
• Be familiar with all classification society and authorities' rules and regulations applicable to his/her area of responsibility.
• Ensure all isolations are carried out as per company and relevant authorities' rules and/or regulations.
• Instruct all personnel assigned to him/her of their duties and responsibilities and of any special safety precautions to be taken prior to the start-up of any work.
• Push own learning and CPD to continuously strive to be at the top of the field.
