We are currently on the lookout for a dynamic and forward-thinking Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Edinburgh and help drive commercial excellence. The Role As a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor with Emtec Building Services, you will be at the heart of our operations, assisting with financial and commercial control and implementing best practices that propel our projects to success. This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work closely with our operational teams to deliver outstanding results. Key Responsibilities Strategic Development : Assist with the Development and execution of commercial strategy aligned with our business goals, providing crucial contractual advice and reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions. Financial Management: manage applications for payment, negotiate final accounts, and manage all contractual aspects of projects, including payments, variations, notices, extensions of time, loss, and expense. Variation Valuation: Evaluate project variations and support the team in identifying and capturing potential opportunities. Subcontractor Management: Lead subcontractor management, from drafting and negotiating subcontracts to managing payment processes and valuing variations. Financial Reporting: Conduct monthly cost and value reporting, participate in review meetings, and project revenue, gross profit, overhead, and net profit. Risk and Opportunity Management: ensure efficient cash management practices and identify and report on commercial risks and opportunities within projects. Who we are looking for We are seeking experienced commercial professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for the construction industry. We are open to considering candidates at all levels. The ideal candidate is: Experienced: Strong MEP background and familiarity with the construction act and standard forms of contract / subcontract (SBCC/NEC) Educated: A degree/honors degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred but not essential. Commercially Savvy: You have a natural instinct for commercial strategy and practical problem-solving with meticulous attention to detail Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills allow you to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Technically Skilled: Excellent numerical and IT skills with a strong grasp of the Microsoft Office package. Licensed: You will need a Full UK Driving licence for this this role.
