AIM OF THE ROLE
The Head of Bid Management & Frameworks is responsible for the strategic oversight, governance, and execution of the end-to-end bid process. This role ensures that bid submissions are completed effectively, in alignment with company objectives, and compliant with governance and risk management policies. The individual will lead a team, manage stakeholder engagement, and continuously improve bid processes to drive business success. A key part of this role is the ability to bring bids to life through effective storytelling, structuring a compelling narrative, and ensuring that all contributors are engaged and aligned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of Bid Management & Frameworks will oversee the team responsible for managing the entire bid process from qualification to submission, ensuring that each bid aligns with the company's strategic goals. This involves managing and facilitating bid qualification, gathering feedback from Heads of Department, and making informed bid decisions. In addition, the role requires ensuring smooth transitions of frameworks and bids into sales support, acting as an expert resource for the business, and attending relevant industry events such as supplier engagement webinars, conferences, and working groups.
A crucial aspect of this role is the ability to direct the completion of bids effectively, ensuring they present a clear, compelling, and customer-focused narrative. The Head of Bid Management & Frameworks will work closely with stakeholders to ensure bids resonate with the customer, making complex solutions easy to understand and persuasive.
Governance and reporting responsibilities include ensuring effective monitoring of bids throughout the process, tracking performance, and providing weekly updates to ensure transparency. Where necessary, critical bid decisions must be escalated to senior management for formal sign-off. The Head of Bid Management & Frameworks is also responsible for the development and maintenance of bid policies, including managing qualification processes, scoring matrices, and operational governance.
Beyond managing the bid pipeline, this role requires a strong focus on continuous improvement. Lessons learned from past bids must be reviewed, and improvements must be implemented to enhance future bid performance. Collaboration with Marketing is essential to ensure bid materials and templates align with the company's brand messaging. Furthermore, the role involves providing bid training to key stakeholders, keeping bid content and templates updated, and ensuring accessibility for relevant teams.
Motivating and engaging bid contributors is a fundamental aspect of this position. The Head of Bid Management & Frameworks must foster a collaborative and high-energy bid environment, ensuring that contributors from different teams understand their roles and feel valued. By ensuring structured bid kick-off sessions, regular check-ins, and clear communication processes, they will drive enthusiasm and commitment across all contributors.
The Head of Bid Management & Frameworks will also oversee the development of a comprehensive bid toolkit, ensuring its continuous refinement to support all stakeholders. Additionally, they will work closely with Marketing to source and produce relevant case studies that can strengthen bid proposals. When a bid is won, the role extends to ensuring effective coordination of contract finalization with Sales, Sales Support, Operations, Legal, and Finance to ensure all aspects are appropriately signed off and completed.
Oversee the establishment of a framework strategy aimed at maximising and implementing the relevant development plans, including helping to determine which Frameworks to bid for and which frameworks to promote to which customers. Support the Frameworks Manager with stakeholder management where required to ensure all Framework activity has the right level of visibility across all relevant departments.
The Head of Bid Management & Frameworks will have strong experience in team management, including performance management and development in order to coach and inspire the team to deliver great results.

Qualifications/Experience required:
1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing complex propositions for large-scale and enterprise-level customers.
2. Proven capability in managing framework contracts within a complex stakeholder environment.
3. At least 2 years of experience in team management, including performance management, personal development, and appraisals.
Hours of Work
The Company's standard hours of work are 9.00am - 5.30pm (3.30pm on a Friday) with one hour for lunch, however, given the nature of the role, flexibility in terms of hours worked will be required to deal with incidents as they occur.
