About the area College Services provides academic administration and technical support services to the University’s schools, including Heads of School, academic staff, and research students. Technical Services offers specialised applied knowledge and skills to support UWA’s teaching and research initiatives. This team prioritises compliance, high-performance outcomes, and the implementation of safe systems of work. The Safety and Operations team delivers specialist safety services to ensure the University’s research and teaching environments maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance. About the opportunity Develop and implement localised safe systems of work for staff and students through training and expert advice. Support teaching and research activities by ensuring specialist equipment and facilities comply with WHS requirements. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a proactive safety culture and operational excellence. About you Strong experience in workplace health and safety, ideally within a university or research environment. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and mitigate risks effectively. Able to apply relevant specialist knowledge in one or more areas of labs/workshop safety, chemical safety, or fieldwork planning in the University context to support the research, teaching and professional support activities of local areas Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to deliver training and advisory services. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, show initiative and work productively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
