We are partnered with a consultancy who are currently in search of an experienced Senior Town Planner to join their team in Southampton. They are a well-established business with long standing relationships and a loyal client base across the South Coast (and nationally) and as a result, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting applications, at varying scales of size, across residential, commercial, leisure and retail schemes.
With a very active Director heading up the team, there is a focus on excellent planning work and client relationships; you will be expected to support the business in retaining key clients as well as honing in on your own business development skills to support the business' growth plans.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Leading on medium and large-scale projects, and assisting seniors on major projects.
2. Continuing to maintain relationships with clients in providing accurate advice and communicating effectively.
3. Dealing with pre-applications and managing planning applications through the development process.
4. Communicating and negotiating with clients, stakeholders, and locals regularly.
Ideally, you should possess:
1. Between three and six years of experience in planning, preferably within consultancy, although local planning authority (LPA) experience will be considered.
2. A strong skill set and expertise in development management and strategic planning.
3. MRTPI or equivalent.
4. Excellent written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
