We are seeking an experienced Commodity Manager to join our Ipswich team.
Reporting to the Group Strategic Sourcing Manager, the Commodity Manager is responsible for developing, executing, and continually refining global supply chain strategies for all assigned commodities to deliver industry-leading supplier quality, product/service delivery, customer service levels, total cost, and cash-flow performance.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* For assigned commodities, develop and lead the execution of a global supply chain strategy that supports Crane objectives for cost reduction, supplier OTD and lead-times, supplier quality, and inventory reduction. This includes actions to rationalise the supply base, drive increased sourcing from low-cost sources, leverage indirect material/services spend with other Crane business units, and negotiate & implement Long-Term Supplier Agreements.
* Maintain awareness of world markets and emerging material-related issues in the industry and position the supply chain to flexibly respond accordingly.
* Leverage supplier capabilities in product design, cost reduction, lead time reduction, and customer satisfaction.
* Establish and lead teams to identify and action improvement and savings opportunities.
* Obtain competitive bids, analyze costs, and negotiate contracts with vendors based on total costs to the company commensurate with financial risks, quality standards, and delivery capabilities.
* Leverage technology solutions to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of the strategic sourcing process.
* Monitor ongoing supplier performance, support functions/business units in resolving chronic supplier performance problems, revise supplier strategies, and, if necessary, lead projects to exit poor performing suppliers.
* Lead periodic business reviews with key suppliers to review quality, delivery, cost, and service performance, progress on strategic initiatives, and ensure ongoing strategic alignment between Crane and the supplier.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving/decision-making skills and the ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions. Ideally, you will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a global supply chain-related role. Strong negotiation and contract management skills and a willingness to travel on a regular basis are essential for this role.
