The British Institute at Ankara conducts and supports arts, humanities and social sciences research in Türkiye and the Black Sea region across a wide range of disciplines including archaeology, ancient and modern history, heritage management, cultural studies, public policy and political sciences.
The BIAA is seeking a full-time London Office Manager to play a key role within our UK office and the wider activities of the Institute.
The position involves coordinating research grants, providing administrative support to the BIAA's Council and Committees, accurate book-keeping, and acting as a first point of contact for Institute members as well as general enquiries.
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have relevant office and administrative experience.
They should be highly IT-literate, and able to use MS Office packages as well as CRM and accounting software.
Experience of book-keeping, financial reporting and budget monitoring are highly desirable.
Some knowledge of and interest in Türkiye and the Black Sea region, and of the academic disciplines within the remit of the Institute, is desirable, but enthusiasm, initiative and communications skills are equally important.
The position requires excellent interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently, flexibly and responsively.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate initiative and effective time-management.
We offer a competitive salary of £36,000-£38,000 per annum, hybrid working, 30 days holiday, opportunity to travel to Türkiye for work purposes, and training opportunities.
