Improvement Cymru is the national quality improvement service for NHS Wales. Our goal is to work with NHS Wales and its partner organisations to achieve sustainable, measurable improvements so that health and care services are safe, reliable and effective. Our work is described in ourImprovement Cymru strategypublished in 2021.
Working across Wales, we deliver improvement support using a National and regional approach, tailored to local need. Our roles are based across Wales providing improvement expertise and support in the following regions:
North Wales
South East Wales
Mid & West Wales
Trusts & Networks (National)
This post offers an opportunity to be part of The Trust and Networks region in Improvement Cymru at a busy and exciting time, as we:
1. Work with NHS Wales to progress our programme of Safe Care Together.
2. Work with National improvement and lean experts, Welsh Government and colleagues across NHS Wales to create the condition to embed a culture of continuous improvement.
3. Work with our partners in the NHS Executive to maximise compliance with the Cancer National Optimal Pathways to reduce unwarranted variation across Wales.
Main duties of the job
You'll be joining an ambitious team, comprising some of the most qualified and experienced Improvement professionals in NHS Wales. Together we lead, embed and champion Improvement across the service - national coordination of local support for safe, reliable and effective care. We offer the opportunity for you to develop your knowledge and skills in Improvement Science. You will be required to utilise this knowledge by coaching our NHS colleagues in the workplace to support their local improvement work.
Our strength comes from our teams having a powerful combination of backgrounds and experience. We want to recruit our new team members from diverse backgrounds with a mix of skills and experiences - we welcome applicants from all sectors, including the NHS.
Successful applicants will be allocated to a defined team, but with ongoing opportunities to matrix work with other Improvement Cymru teams and projects. All posts have national responsibilities and the ability to travel across Wales, including overnight stays, will be necessary for all postholders.

Essential
4. Educated to Masters Degree level or equivalent level of experience working at a senior management level
5. Improvement certification (Improvement in Practice, Lean practitioner level etc.)
6. Evidence of continued professional development
7. Project/programme management qualification or equivalent experience in leading programme/projects with demonstrable outcomes.
Desirable
8. Training delivery qualification
9. Coaching qualification, such as ILM

10. Significant management experience in a senior role including staff management, ideally within the NHS or Social Care.
11. Experience of process/problem analysis, challenging existing thinking and generating improvements and solutions
12. Experience of successfully leading and implementing project driven change management.
13. Experience of mentoring or coaching teams or individuals

14. Ability to work closely with people in other disciplines and form professional working relationships, influencing, negotiation and resolving conflict with regards to change management
15. Ability to communicate highly complex technical concepts and analysis effectively to different organisations and audiences; including formal presentations Board level.
16. Ability to explain and work with concepts of measurement for improvement to a variety of audiences and to provide practical support for teams in developing measures for improvement
17. Ability to organise, plan and prioritise a diverse range of complex strategic programmes to meet statutory and other deadlines typically involving other disciplines/organisations.
18. Ability to train multi-disciplinary groups including clinical staff through the delivery of multi-organisational training programmes.
