About the Role
The Traffic & Flood Risk Management Service area seeks to deliver an excellent customer-focused service efficiently, with a specific focus on the Council's role as the Highway Authority.
This post will work under the supervision of the Technical Lead, primarily using developed road safety investigation and engineering skills to take measures that prevent accidents. Ideally, you will be a qualified Road Safety Engineering Auditor, undertaking studies into accidents on the highway to help deliver safety improvements. You will have the ability to explain contentious and complicated highway proposals, demonstrating diplomacy, accountability, and approachability.
We are looking for a proactive and efficient individual who can prioritize citizens and customers while working with a range of stakeholders. They must be organized and have excellent communication skills to ensure the service area maintains professional standards.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* A developed knowledge and experience of developing and introducing road safety and highway policies, procedures, and programmes.
* A working experience of current practice for the design, construction, and successful delivery of road safety and highway schemes.
* A developed knowledge and experience of undertaking road safety audits and development control advice to ensure the safety of the highway network.
* Understanding of budget management processes, procurement procedures, and contract/commissioning processes for effective service delivery.
* A can-do attitude and willingness to learn complex highway processes.
* Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and manage sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes.
