About the Beauty Squad: The Beauty Squad is THG Beauty’s in-house technology team. Our primary goal is to deliver innovative technology solutions that position THG Beauty as a market leader in beauty commerce. The team consists of dedicated engineers, a UX designer, and a product owner, all working together to manage and enhance the web platform that serves millions of beauty customers worldwide. This platform supports shipping to over 200 countries, handles over 10 million visits every month, and powers the sale of 22,000 products from more than 600 beauty brands. We also collaborate closely with external providers to deliver solutions in areas such as eCRM, retail media, and sustainability.
Since its formation in 2023, the Beauty Squad has transformed THG Beauty's technology landscape by developing a cutting-edge serverless frontend platform. This platform has revolutionized the developer experience, enabling faster deployments and cleaner, simpler code. It has also accelerated business impact by enhancing user experience and site performance, while enabling rapid iteration. Looking ahead, we’re entering an exciting phase of innovation, with plans to introduce groundbreaking features and improvements on our 2025 roadmap.
Responsibilities:
Technical Responsibilities:
1. Develop frontend web features and applications to deliver outstanding user experiences.
2. Build user interfaces that provide a best-in-class experience for customers.
3. Monitor and enhance the sites' Core Web Vitals for optimal performance.
4. Integrate third-party software into the platform, including tag management using Google Tag Manager (GTM) when needed.
5. Improve and maintain platform observability tools and systems.
6. Manage and enhance automated CI/CD pipelines for efficient and reliable deployments.
7. Ensure sites are accessible to all users, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards as a minimum.
8. Write test cases and ensure sufficient coverage.
Behavioural Responsibilities:
1. Actively contribute to an Agile team, providing constructive feedback to peers informally and through code reviews. Collaborate on tasks where appropriate, e.g., through pair programming.
2. Manage your workload effectively, meeting deadlines and clearly communicating risks to delivery timelines.
3. Break down requirements into actionable tickets with well-defined scopes and estimates, while identifying risks and dependencies.
4. Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including UX designers, product managers, and other development teams, to achieve shared goals.
5. Showcase new features to business stakeholders, tailoring your communication to suit the audience.
6. Identify blockers and proactively work towards resolution, making technical decisions where necessary.
7. Clearly and effectively communicate complex features, systems, and code details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
8. Handle urgent issues ("firefighting") with a calm and composed approach.
Requirements:
1. Full-stack experience is a bonus but not required, particularly working with GraphQL APIs.
2. Familiarity with Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a plus but not mandatory.
