Brighton and Hove City Council is seeking an experienced Digital Integration Developer to work across at least two of the platforms that sit at the heart of our integration services and are significant in our digital transformation initiatives.
This is one of several new roles being introduced to complement a highly skilled and active digital and data team who are all committed to helping deliver successful outcomes for the Digital Customer and the Data programmes, important parts of the Council’s Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) strategy.
Central to our product development and delivery are 3 platforms of strategic importance, namely: Boomi for enterprise integration, Mendix for rapid application development, and Drupal for our corporate website CMS and digital forms. Drupal experience is not a requirement of this role but you must have significant experience and expertise in at least two of these key technologies: Boomi, SQL Server, and Mendix. Boomi development experience in an enterprise environment is essential.
Start date: Successful candidate will be able to start on or after 1 April 2025 subject to pre-employment checks being completed.

This is a brand-new role introduced in recognition of the growing demand, technical expertise, and the rigour that is required to meet the development and support demands for new and existing services, applications, and integrations using our Boomi iPaaS, core Mendix applications, and SQL Server databases.
As part of the Engagement and Digital Innovation service within IT&D, the role sits within the Data Solutions team and therefore reports into the Data Solutions Manager. You would take technical direction and receive mentoring from our Senior Integration and Database developer and will be a key member of the integration services section of the team. As well as working very closely with the Digital Development team, you would also work alongside colleagues that support platforms such as Power BI, Clearcore (for Master Data Management), and ArcGIS. The Digital and Data teams work very closely together to develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain complex digital solutions.
A key aspect of the role will be to help ensure that the robust, data-driven, integrated, and modular architecture that underpins our application development is maintained and improved. Therefore, you will need to rapidly gain a strong understanding of the nature and capabilities of our development platforms, corporate systems, and corporate datasets.
In this role, you’ll need to have advanced Boomi development knowledge plus, either significant database development experience, or advanced Mendix development experience in an enterprise environment, be adept at developing and working with APIs, be able to contribute and adhere to best practices, ensure robust security and integrity of solutions, and deliver to multiple concurrent projects.

Ideal candidates will have and be able to evidence their experience, knowledge, and interest in the following areas:
1. Hands-on design, development, deployment, and maintenance of integration processes between applications (cloud and on-premise) using the Boomi platform;
2. API security certification, authentication, authorisation, IP security setup, and endpoint configuration;
3. Programming and code management in an Enterprise environment;
4. Developing secure, public-facing, and integrated Mendix applications; or
5. Development and performance tuning using Microsoft SQL Server, with exposure to Oracle, PostgreSQL and other RDBMs highly desirable.
We completely endorse a flexible workplace, with our staff working full time, part-time, and compressed hours, to fit around care commitments and work-life balance needs. The teams are currently working largely remotely, so you'll need experience of working and managing systems and people in this way. The successful applicant may work flexibly but may need to attend the office where service demands require it. Should working from home not be possible, safe office accommodation is available.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
