Senior Site Manager - Norfolk Broads
Location: Mid Yare and Ant Valley Reserves
Salary: £43,095.00 - £46,264.00 Per Annum
This is a Permanent, Full-Time role for 37.5 hours per week.
You will have enormous potential to make a difference for nature in this role. As the RSPB Norfolk Broads Senior Sites Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a dedicated team of 12 staff and 100 volunteers.
You will oversee a work programme and budget to deliver three management plans and a welcoming visitor operation at Strumpshaw Fen.
You will be responsible for the Broads land management and visitor operations teams, and work alongside colleagues from a wide range of disciplines including Ecology, Land Agency, Finance, Project Management, Fundraising, Conservation and Communications.
We are looking for someone who can:
1. Look ahead and plan for the development of reserves in the face of a changing climate and agricultural landscape.
2. Develop projects and partnerships to take our reserves forwards.
3. Lead and direct a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
Essential Criteria
Leadership & Management
1. Proven experience in leading and managing a team to deliver operational objectives.
2. Ability to develop and implement a clear vision and strategic direction.
3. Experience in recruiting, managing and developing staff to ensure effective performance.
Project & Operational Management
1. Experience in managing land management or conservation projects.
2. Ability to oversee and ensure compliance in the delivery of agri-environment scheme requirements.
3. Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations, ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Financial & Budget Management
1. Experience in developing and managing large budgets to ensure financial compliance.
2. Ability to secure external funding and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Ecological & Environmental Knowledge
1. Understanding of ecological requirements for key species and habitats.
2. Knowledge of land management principles and conservation best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
2. Experience in community engagement and representing an organisation to local communities.
3. Ability to influence and negotiate effectively with key partners and stakeholders.
Advocacy & Organisational Representation
Ability to act as an advocate for the organisation’s mission, engaging effectively with stakeholders.
