The Maintenance Superintendent directs and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manages and coordinates activities of a team of skilled workers engaged in maintaining and repairing equipment, structures, utility systems, buildings, and grounds.
2. As a member of the senior management team at the Bristol facility, participates in team meetings, strategic planning, and PIP.
3. Directly supervises the maintenance department; and oversees the performance management, attendance, and training functions.
4. Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
5. Develops a preventative maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
6. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
7. Plans, develops and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
8. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
9. Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve safety issues and maintenance problems and recommends measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent education and experience.
2. Five years of experience in extrusion or similar processes is required. Three to five years of supervisory experience. Demonstrates excellent problem-solving abilities and effective management skills.
3. Must be able to effectively communicate in a written and verbal manner.
4. Familiarity with Westlake Workplace Behaviors.
