Job Overview
Please note this role would suit an appropriately qualified and experienced Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. To work as an autonomous, Specialist Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist within the multi-disciplinary Community Complex Conditions Service. The role will involve working with the MDT which includes a Consultant Therapist, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Speech and Language, Nursing and Psychology, to develop and deliver a high quality clinical service. Leading by example, the post holder will provide a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment of patients. Using evidence based principles / current best practice and advanced clinical skills and clinical reasoning assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. The clinical population includes people with long COVID and other post-viral presentations, ME/CFS, breathing pattern disorder, FND and other Persistent Physical Symptom presentations.
The post holder will take a clinical role in the assessment and treatment of patients where the caseload will comprise of mainly patients with highly complex presentations. This will be through highly specialist clinical knowledge and application, audit, research and education. It will require liaison with a diverse number of multidisciplinary specialties and integrated working with other disciplines and agencies.
Main duties of the job
* To be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of professional practice including the management of patients in your care.
* To work within Health Board clinical protocols, procedures and guidelines and Professional Standards set by the HCPC and CSP.
* To have good working knowledge of national and local standards and monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate.
* To support the delivery of the clinical service across BCUHB in a variety of locations according to service demands.
* To undertake the comprehensive assessment and accurate diagnosis of patients, including those with highly complex presentations, using extended investigative, analytical and advanced clinical reasoning skills.
* To utilise in-depth knowledge of pain sciences, extended scope skills where appropriate, and an advanced understanding of the intricacies of communication with respect to the psychosocial predictors of health.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
* Degree / Graduate Diploma in relevant therapy
* HCPC Registered
* Obtained or working towards post graduate (Masters) qualifications or Masters level equivalent knowledge, training and significant experience Extended scope skills e.g. clinical examination skills or working towards
* Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio
Experience
* Extensive experience working as a Senior Physiotherapist or in relevant clinical specialty or Occupational Therapy Practice
* Experience of delivering clinical education in area of specialty or significant experience of occupational therapy delivery in area of chronic disease management or rehabilitation
* Evidence of teaching within post or experience of clinical leadership
* Proven multidisciplinary working and / or delegation to qualified and non-registered staff
* Experience of audit and significant experience of leading multi-professional / multi-disciplinary team working
Skills
* Advanced clinical practice and clinical reasoning skills to specialist level or well developed critical appraisal skills and demonstratable skills in influencing change in clinical practice
* Able to critique research papers and implement relevant findings. Able to give clear, concise written and verbal reports or clinical examination and history taking skills relevant to area of practice
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to process and share highly complex information in a confidential manner
* Demonstrate professional independence
* Ability to conduct professional affairs in a confident, assertive manner, using negotiating / influencing skills whilst maintaining excellent working relationships with all stakeholders
Knowledge
* Extensive specialist clinical experience and knowledge in relationship to specialty
* Evidence of recent study in relevant clinical area
* Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice
* Demonstrate understanding & involvement of clinical governance and risk assessment
* Broad knowledge of health legislation

* Able to undertake manual handling tasks in line with Health Board Policies and / or professional confidence
