An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Design Engineer – Services to join Rolls-Royce Submarines.

You will work as part of a team consisting of mechanical, systems and EC&I engineers utilising support from other functions around the Submarines Business as and when required. Components and/or systems delivered to the dockyard are generally required to support the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) during maintenance periods.

What you will be doing:
The projects will be incredibly fast paced with delivery dates which are very challenging. It is essential the applicant is pragmatic, proactive, and comfortable with managing ambiguity. This is an exciting time to join what is a growing part of the Submarines business.
1. Undertake or support all design tasks from scoping and blank page design to authoring substantiation and safety documentation and supporting procurement through the manufacture, test and supply of components
2. Production of technical reports/operating manuals etc. to a high standard.
3. Responsible for delivery to cost, specification and programme.
4. Work closely with the project engineer and multi-discipline teams to develop detailed plans and estimates to meet business objectives.

5. Project or Technical Co-ordinator experience in a service / engineering or manufacturing environment.
6. Electrical controls and instrumentation design experience, and an understanding of electrical design principles.
7. A good understanding of a design process from scoping to delivery.
8. Must have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent level of continuous professional development and experience.
9. Ideally have experience of design work related to a submarine NSRP.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
